I have bought cheap ass guns on occasion, but they get used in courses (not on the field).
For that purpose, the gun can be pure crap. It does not matter as long as it looks like the real version enough to serve in a show-and-tell. |
I got to look at some pretty reasonable guns which are upcoming releases from Cybergun (european airsoft distributer). I'm not sure what brand name they'll be marketed under though. I met their R&D guy who is working with the manfacturer to produce economical yet well performing AEGs. They're launching some decent Armalites, AKs and a not bad Thompson which seem to shoot pretty well with decent power. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to dig into the mechbox, but from a superficial first look at early release products, they seem pretty good.
The target MSRP for the US and European market is $200USD including battery, charger and hicap which is quite a steal if they are mechanically sound for the long term. Out of the box they chrony 320fps w' 0.2g bbs so they're not the usual 100fps junk guns we're used to bitching about. Their finish is certainly not as nice as the impecable TM finish. Mould parting lines aren't quite as clean, but overall they're quite good for the price. |
Everything you listed on those Cyberguns is pretty much what the new Cymas/UTGs/JG, etc are, except cheaper than $200 US.

Would I buy? I did.
Would I buy it again? Hell no. High quality is the only kind of quality worth my pennies. |

I got one and it's become a project gun.

Regardless, I will never buy Cybergun, not due to quality, but due to ethical concerns. They are trying to bully all their American competition out of business, and are intentionally putting up roadblacks to try and prevent ICS, CA, and TM from using California ports for importation into the US, and that has the potential drive the cost of domestic airsoft up (unless you want to buy Cybergun). Read and be educated. http://willsroom.com/aopics/cybergun.html |
Im a chinese and i gone back to china almost every year..but when it comes to something i really like?no,i wont buy a made in china AEG for sure since im familiar with chinese machinary products qualities,i wont waste my cash on it.
CA and TM are sure expansive but they worth the qualities. |
Why buy a gun that your going to swap every part out of anyhow... why not just start from scratch? Buying a gun for ~$200 less than a TM/CA/ICS then drop $300 on internals? Why not just buy a TM/CA/ICS, have a top quality finish and no imediate need to switch out every single part... These 'cheap' guns dont make sence to me.

Project gun time! / Strip them for parts

Ive already seen first hand one of the aug's and personally it was a piece of S*#!. No fuse at all, wired directly into gun. Aswell as cheap plastic.
Battery and charger that came with it aswell were really poor quallity aswell. Buyer is sending batt back to original supplier. Possably good starter for those who jump into the sport head first..LOL Anyway just my 2cents.. |
