Duraing a game of ATF Québec at Samuel Paintball 2 guys, Anne_Usse and his brother, made a Riot shield out of plywood with a plexiglass window. They used measurements of a real riot shield to build it. The advantages are quickly nulled by its disadvantages, the weight and size made it hard to maneuver easily so a team with a shield like that could still be anihilated and + it was a real bullet magnet since every body was shooting at it. So I think that no special rules should be implemented unless someone comes with a very light shield or built in such a way that the user(s) is untouchable, which I doubt is doable.

Our team use Replica Ballistic shield. Made of wood and covered with thin metal sheets and the window port is with plexiglass. We will soon replace it with lexan, once I get a hold of some at my job.

We don't have to set special rules, since the shield itself is it's own disavantage. Realistically speaking, it would be defeated by most weapons on the field, but we don't want to care at that point.

Shield rule.

Unless the shield is really heavy, it can't be that much of a disadvantage, right?

Just remember there are two types of shields police use, The ones that tac teams use, and the riot ones. The riot ones are not bullet proof.

Ahahahah, i IWSH we had shield rules in Calgary. They are "BIG" and invincible untill you cen get up to it and touch it to kill it and the user behind.

It is fun to use EVERY NOW AND THEN, but it can get really old.

I really like the idea of them being a few layers of card board, give the indoor game a bit more reallism.

Riot what?

Seems like a lame idea to me... If you want a shield that can be penetrated by multiple shots to the same area, then by that logic any walls should be the same, but even flimsier. I can't ever see me actually using a shield... it'd be way too much of a hinderance and it would seem incredibly gimmicky.

im on your side. shields usually end up just getting shot first because the most fire is on him.

I made a stand alone handle for my M16 203, its amazing for taking out the shield.

If someone really practiced with it, they would be pretty good with it. I may do that myself. But you never know, I guess it depends what type of scenario its being used in.

their hella handy if your in close but for out door i cant see it being that great. The range is prity short but for a good old hail mary you can goout with a bit of style.

I once tried to use a scrap piece of sun beaten (thus really weakened) house siding as a shield at the foxden.....didn't know that upgraded guns shot right through the stuff, learn new things every day.

YOU ACTUALLY TRIED USING THAT STUFF!??! LOL! ROFL!

Okay, as soon as I can get my lungs back from laughing I'll point out all the holes already IN those sheets. Although one idea was to cover up the windows on the Command bunker with them, just have little small boxes for windows. Have a couple layers so it'd take a little bit for even an upgraded gun to chew through it. Give just that half second someone could need, and even MORE dark for some one to miss someone standing in there with a P226.
