When selecting the piston head, do you go with the gearbox (the replica body) or do you match it to the cylinder (like using a 407mm barrel in a P90 body).
Thanks!

All piston heads fit across all versions of gearboxes. Ventilated/ported piston heads will increase ROF and increase shot-to-shot consistency (in velocity.)
You pick a piston head based on the characteristics you want from it:
If you want more sound and greater impact feel, get a metal piston head. Note that they add much more stress to the gearbox.
If you want a softer impact, get a synthetic piston head, ie Silicon, Pom, Polycarbonate, etc
If you want an even softer impact, get the Systema Silent head set (you will need to pick gearbox version-specific kits for this, as the cylinder head is unique.)
If you want the softest and quietest impact, get the Angel Silent head set (you will need to pick gearbox version-specific kits for this, as the cylinder head is unique.)

Testimony to this - Illusion - you remember the box you made for Nocturnal's DTP bodied M16A4? I still have that gun, box build by you - its been opened once two years ago by Gump for seasonal service and lubing and at that time there was no indication of wear or wear leading to failure, he put it back together and its been working like a champ ever since. One of the best boxes you ever built. That one has a Systema silent piston kit in it.

I do remember that gearbox, because that was one of the nicest sounding gearboxes I ever built. The cylinder head on that was also unique - I installed the KM TN Straight bore cylinder head on there which offers a much quieter sound signature than the Systema one did. I haven't built any other gearboxes with that cylinder head due to the cost of that cylinder head making a build like that cost-prohibitive for many users.
