well i wasnt meaning that cheap, as i have a cybergun ak aeg that shoots at around 250 fps with .12s, and its so weak, guys with springerss are beating me. more around the 150- 200 mark. im probably going to buy the aftermath knight cqb, anyone have experience with this gun??

Pinard January 25th, 2011 20:04

how old are you ?

crashonskis January 25th, 2011 22:07

why, im 19

crashonskis January 25th, 2011 22:08

and if youre going to recommend getting age verified, i live in a small town, and dont want to travel to get age verified.

Slow January 25th, 2011 22:15

This doesn't make any sense, Why would an AEG use CO2? Also if your AEG is shotting 250fps with .12 there is something wrong.
But yes, cold weather does effect co2.

Also stop spending money on crappy softair. Wait sometime and purchase a TM...something more reliable.

crashonskis January 25th, 2011 22:52

that was not what i meant, i was going to buy a co2, and would be playing in cold weather. there must be something wrong with my aeg, although it is crap that costs around 70 new.

crashonskis January 25th, 2011 22:52

it can barely dent a can

Also I was wondering what a first good primary (around 200$, just for 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 with close friends) would be (that shoots under 350 fps). thanks

Don't buy anything from Canadian Tire or Walmart it will crapout on you and leave you wishing you had that money back to invest in a better gun, please trust me I know this from experience.

A lot of people consider JG's to be absolute crap but for $250 or so you get a gun that is far better than anything you'd find at Walmart or Crappy Tire. These guns don't have the same quality or quality control as some of the more expensive brands so there is a higher chance of getting a lemon, but I have read about many people who are happy with their JG gun. If you understand that this is a plastic gun and needs to be treated gently, cleaned and cared for it will perform well for a long time. The other benefit to JG's is that they are TM clones so it will be easy to find upgrades, replacement parts and mags.

I know you don't want to hear this but if you are actually 18+ it is well worth getting age verified just do it and you won't regret it. Find an AV'er make an appointment and hop in a car, bring a friend they can get AV'd too it'll be fun... ROAD TRIP!!! It is very easy to do and you'll have access to many AV retailers not otherwise available, and a large selection of guns. The classifieds are also good, if you're patient and do some research you can find a good used gun for a great price.

The most important thing is to do your research, find the gun you want eg. M4, Mp5, G36 ect., this should be based on your body size and playing style. Doing your research does not mean starting a thread saying hey guys is this gun any good? It means searching this site and others for reviews on the gun. Put in the work and you'll be rewarded.

Edit: don't be too concerned with FPS an inexpensive spring will easily fix a hot gun and your retailer can probably get it shooting in your desired range if you ask.

You need a spring change then. Either that or your compression parts are fucked up.

Get your hands on an M100 spring which should bring you to ~330-350 FPS, otherwise if you're looking for something lower in the 1 Joule range, an M90 or 1J spring should give you the desired results. That's assuming the compression isn't broken though. If that's the case you'll need to get a new compression set, piston and piston head (and while you're at it I guess it might be a good idea to change the cylinder to a ported one if it's not ported, a new cylinder head).

I totally understand some people may live out in the sticks and don't go to the city often so when you do take a trip to a city with an AV rep present I guess make an appointment with them or something, hell maybe you could meet half way or if someone is passing through/nearby because of work or vacation it's a quick 5 minutes and painless.

PS: From what I understand avoid all aftermath products except for the Kraken and Broxa as those are really the only "half decent" guns from Aftermath.

An alternative is the Tri-shot shotgun from CT. It's not the greatest and not worth paying full price for it but if you ever catch it on sale it's a pretty good buy. As well there's the Crosman Airmag C11 (comes in 2 flavours, Airsoft and .177 pellet) it sometimes goes on sale as well and a decent performer (apparently a lot of people keep them as secondary sidearms) make sure you buy the right one cause being shot with .177 is not cool.

ThunderCactus January 26th, 2011 03:22

AEG's work better in the cold than CO2 ever could.

crashonskis January 26th, 2011 08:36

ok thanks i wont fix this gun, because even the body is crap, i hit the barrel on an empty cardboard box and it snapped clean off. yeah, it doesnt have one metal part in it. I will look at getting a hot gun tuned down though.

crashonskis January 26th, 2011 08:42

i was looking at a jg but it had no top rail...
