Thought I'd try my hand at painting. Used one of those clearsoft shotguns (I was afraid to do my real gun until I get better).

Suggestions on how to improve? It's got that "rugged, used" look from the cracked paint, which I can only assume was me putting it on too thick.

throw it in the garbage? haha
save it for a loaner gun? looks fine to me

The cheap way is to take some sort of white pastel, (or crayon, or deodorant) and just scribble some into the bevel of the word. Wipe it off, and it should stay .

Another optional way, (although it isn't expensive, it's around 3$, but the crayon option is like 30c...) take a very fine brush, model paint, and paint the whole word. let the paint set for about 45 seconds, and wipe. The pain should have soaked into the words and it'll dry. Much nicer effect.

And actually I just decided I wanted something that looked better than black, so I painted the stock and pistol grip. I don't use that gun in any outdoor games, so camouflage isn't that great a factor, Goodl2ussian.

Sergeantmajor April 13th, 2008 19:12

some one should paint their gun to look like our flag.

Dusti69 April 13th, 2008 19:29

haha thats a laugh. somebody should get some shag fur material and glue it all over their gun so you got this big ball of fur that doesnt even look like a gun anymore and people are like wtf is that and then you shoot them. they will tell tales of being shot with an automatic wookie (AEW)

mike909 April 13th, 2008 19:31

Well at 230FPS its not much of a scare. :D But would be funny

ColtFarmer April 13th, 2008 19:42

the cracks are from not letting the basecoat dry enough before painting over it, as it dries it constricts and pulls the other paint apart.
