Gearfreak shoot - Brakoo and Vince (56k BE GONE)

So, Brakoo's roomoate happens to be a gearfreak of his own, but thankfully for us, he's all about photography while we spend every last hard earned buck on nylon...

Here are the shots with kitlist and brief description. Could've put this into the media section but fuck it, much more suited to the gear section!

The true connaisseurs will point a few mistakes on our part, but don't you worry, we are fully aware of that.

Vince, your lack of .45 manliness is disappointing

Brakoo's Universal Norotos is wrong for 2008. And it would be 99.% of the time with an AKA2 arm (for a Universal, but for that year it'd be a 3 hole with PVS14 TATM...)

Heh, I had to be picky to hide my jealousy Looking good as always! I found my gear closet (read: my appartement as a whole, actually... but the appartement isn't much bigger than a closet anyway) was pretty full with gear, but... I see some stuff you have I had never heard about. Nice nice! Good quality pics does help a lot.

Holy SHIT you guys have awesome gear. And I thought I had too much. Looks accurate and well researched from what I can tell at least, just needs some more dirt right?! In the first pic, is it me or does that plate carrier seem extra small? Also I've always wanted to ask this of very accurate reenactors; does this stuff work well for YOU? Of course you recreate what you see in use by real units.. But in a tough skirmish or long milsim do you find yourself wishing you were using different gear?

edit: Taliban Hunter is BOSS. Change the 2nd line gear to ranger green and it looks just like the Battlefield 3 trailers. coolio.

The MBSS is in fact somewhat small but I wanted to keep something minimalist for CQB and use my warbelt setup for the rest of my stuff.

The stuff I have there usually work when used in the right environment. It's true that for the sake of details I'll add extras that I wouldn't normally have on me but nothing over the top I'd say.

My 2 cents on that... sure, I don't really need the CAT, huge antennas or scissors, but it's not really bothering or heavy. What's important is that I will choose an impression both for the look AND functionality. I won't take, say, a US Army soldier with all armor add-ons as I know it'll be bulky and hot as hell.

Nor will I take a DEVGRU impression with 1000$ pants to play with^^

Great photo shoot! Very professional pics. Love the attention to details -- like the Pakol hat, the Garmin and the name tape on the camelbak.

Well done! Keep 'em coming ...

Say, Brakoo; in the 1st Recon pictures, I see the mic for your Comtacs is on the right side... With the real thing, can you switch the mic from one side to the other? I have a knock-off, the mic is on the left, and I'm a lefty, which means when I get a cheek-weld, the mic gets squashed against my face or shoved up my nose. Very annoying.

Yes the mic can be switched from one side to the other and it's the reason why I ended up getting this headset over anything else.

So please bear with my ignorance a moment longer; you then have genuine Peltor Comtac IIs, and the mic on them can be switched? How mucch, may I ask, do you pay for a pair, with a PTT and correct wiring for Motorola FRS?
Yes, I appear to be asking for a little spoon-feeding...
