Need a new gun light.

Hey all,

So after my second gun light has been shot out at a cqb arena, I am looking for a decent gun light that has a lense that can withstand a bb impact, and has a pressure pad switch. Preferable something not to lengthy as it has to fit on a P90.

Anyone have some input? I am not looking to buy some $200+ light system.

Even 200+ light systems will be shot out. If you really don't want them to be "shot out" you could buy a real surefire with "shatter resistant" lens.

AFAIK there aren't any repros out there to handle the bb impact.

Best would be to make a home made protector of some kind.

buy a surefire 6p with a rail mount and pressure pad, full set up should be under $200. and as a bonus, if the light gets shot out, surefire replaces/fixes it for free. I have had two shot out and fixed, a couple team mates have as well.

Buy a real surefire. I had a real x300 weapon light shot out by simunition, got it replaced free of charge.

Even surefires can be shot out at CQB ranges. Had a older 6p shot out, got it replaced free of charge as well.

Just don't attempt to import a Surefire. The us has some odd exportation laws regarding weapon lights that will cause it to be seized at the border. Buy in Canada

On the side note, I rather not spend that much.. anyone have a jerry rig method to protect flash lights?

Buy a replica X300 and add a shatter-proof tempered plastic lens on it.
Can take bb's at 400fps no problem.

Get a piece of lexan cut to fit your light. That's what many do for their replica sights.

If you can get it forwarded, the X300 is only $200 in the US (Amazon or LAPG). And the TLR-1S is only $100, it's got a strobe and is 300lumens.

I rock a fenix tk12 (now replaced by the 15) with the pressure switch and a QD mount on my p90.

I like going this route because I can pull the light out of the rail mount and EDC it when I'm not using it to play.

It's also rather inexpensive so I can get something else if it breaks.

Take a look at the Inforce WML's. These are great lights to go on your rail. No wires to worry about and get tangled or get caught on trees etc. I love mine.

This ^^^^, I've been looking into getting one as of late, only thing that worries me is if it gets shot out, however I am sure it isn't hard to mount a custom piece of plexi on it.

Now the issue is if you are using a P90 is the fact that it would be a bitch to use with the regular side rails, solution? Checkout what the US Secret Service use for their P90 setups. I've made similar modifications to my P90 to run it at a lower position on the gun, you can simply replicate what they do by taking a helmet mount for an Ops Core helmet, a Dremel and some Epoxy and with a little work you should have the exact same thing.

I must say I am surprised a lot of P90 user haven't done this yet. It's a lot more easier to use the gun with the flashlight in that position then having it mounted high up on the side of a Tri Rail. Your hand should naturally be at the same level as the new mount too so you don't have to do some weird wonky new grip with your support hand to activate the light. Also doing this would in theory allow you to simply run the light and save on investing in a pressure pad. And no this shouldn't interfere with reloading mags or even the use of the charging handle.

If this isn't the route you want to take, I'd highly suggest the Fenix light Lurking posted. You'd probably be spending around the same amount roughly for both the light and pressure pad, plus the Fenix like is twice the lumens then the WML, if that is what you are going for. I know a couple guys that run them, solid lights that will do the job well.

I've been replacing SF lenses for a while now. What Ricochet said, replace the glass with polycarbonate.

There are a few Surefire G2Xs floating around. You could probably find them at a great price, if you look at some online retailers. I got mine for $45 at the Warriors and Wonders knife store.
