AEG Issues. KWA G36c, TM Famas F1

I've got two AEG issues I wanted some advice with. I'll list them both here instead of creating a new thread. It might get a little long.

First is my KWA G36c. The previous owner had it wired to deans, and ran it with a LiPo battery. When he sold it to me he added a deans to tamiya mini connector as I opted to get it with an 8.4v 1100mAh NiMH battery (being a newbie i was scared away from the complexity of a LiPo).
When the battery is fully charged, I dont have any problems with the gun. Sometimes the gun starts to feel sluggish, in terms of trigger response I guess. I'm not familiar with how the mechbox works, but whatever is moving in there seems to move slower. I then reach a point where I do a quick trigger press and the gun seems to stop halfway in what its doing. After that it doesnt fire. I pull the trigger and I dont feel any movement inside the mechbox. However if I reconnect the battery or even set the gun side and pick it up again it resumes firing normally.
Could this be a battery issue? Or would it be something with the internals? I tried researching and came across a post that says the mini connector sometimes doesnt provide enough juice for certain mechboxes. I dont know if thats the issue here. I do plan on buying a LiPo (at TAC) and using the deans connection to see if the problem goes away. But if you guys think its something else I'd appreciate any help!

Second is about a TM Famas F1. This is one of the old old models, doesnt have a hopup dial at all. I believe it was added into the later F1 and subsequent SV models.
Uses the original 8.4v 1300mAh NiCad battery. Gun shoots perfectly fine on semi and auto, however it randomly stops firing. Once you press the little spring-decompress button (located behind the selector switch on the bottom of the stock), it fires normally.
This needs to be done regularly. It fires on full auto and empties an entire mag without problems. But sometimes when you pause between shots (or when you reload), it stops working and only resumes after the decompress button is pressed. I read that the decompress button was only used when storing the AEG. So could this be caused by a bad spring? I dont know if V1 mechboxes are easy or hard to fix, but again any help is appreciated!

Sorry for the long post!

G36: That mini doesn't have enough power. Get a higher voltage battery or bigger battery (large cells). The lipo provided a lot more power so it worked fine.

FAMAS: Might be a low power battery problem too. Try a higher voltage or large cell battery.

^Thanks for the prompt response. I'll get a different battery for the G36.
Any other suggestions for the Famas? I'll try a 9.6v in the meantime.

Try new, bigger batteries and get back to me (us).

Your problem for both guns is probably a battery issue. The batteries u have are probably old and don't hold their charge very well. Getting a decent 9.6 mini should solve all your problems.

Though most people dont recomend to use a 9.6 with stock TM guns.

What do you recommend? Clearly the OP will need a higher voltage battery for his gun to cycle. That or larger cells but larger cells 8.4v are less practical and perform very similarly to a 9.6 mini.

It does sound like a power issue. You could try the 10.8V 2000mAH NiMH Battery, but that may be too much assuming it's built for the 9.6. I've used a Famas before and was able to swap the battery from an idle BB guzzler, the M249 Para. This would support the theory that a large cell battery would be ideal for your power problem. If you like the sound of the 10.8, I do have them for $80, or the 9.6 for $60 if you're still looking for bats.

You have a stock FAMAS by TM. Do not go to 9.6v, you will have a crazy rate of fire then a non working gearbox.

The old EG560 was a fine motor in its own way. Your FAMAS has what is now known as a "high speed" gear set and coupled with your EG560 should run just fine on a 7.2v large battery. The 8.4v's that were provided gave a great ROF when they were new. If your battery is as old as that gun then there is no shame in retiring it. But be sure to get another 8.4v to replace it! If that won't cycle the FAMAS properly then you have something wrong with the gearbox. AGAIN DO NOT COUPLE THAT FINE VINTAGE GUN WITH A 9.6v BATTERY!

The KWA should run just fine with 9.6v or even 10.8v.

The battery does seem to be the original Marui battery (branding and all). I'll try and get a new 8.4v then. In the TM manual they recommend only 7.2v or 8.4v.

Thanks guys!

If you are having similar issues with both batteries on both guns I would start to look at your charger and see if it's doing the job. What kind of charger do you have?

Ive tried both batteries with their standard wall chargers as well as a Super Brain 977 charger on quick and slow charge. Still the same behavior.

Both batteries are old (famas is the stock TM one...which i'm assuming is back from 2006) so new batteries are a must anyway. Hopefully that will solve it!

@ Venture
Tnx for pointing out the fragile mechbox in the FAMAS, that could have been very ugly.

Sorry for the bad advice on the bat. I failed to mention it was in use for only one game.

That FAMAS battery is probably 12 years old. It is garbage now. No charger can help it.

Hi,
Thanks everyone for the information.
The FAMAS ap27 inquired about is mine; he helped me out with this while I was away.
Just picked up an 8.4V 4000mAh NiMH at the TAC2011.... And I thought the Famas was shooting fast before!
Shoots like a dream now, with no issues so far.
Thanks all
