lower fps with a shorter inner barrel

i was wondering what inner barrel length would i have to run to lower the fps for cqb? ive read that changing the inner barrel will lower the fps and is much easier than opening up a gear box. it has a 267 inner barrel length and i believe its shooting around 370-380.

267 is already pretty short - The shortest AEG barrel that I know of is 110mm. If you go shorter, can your outer barrel support that length?

Another option is to actually go with a longer barrel. How long? Hard to say as there are too many variables at play. Either way - it's kind of a hack as you're trading off efficiency just to get to a certain fps.

Just change the spring man. A barrel any shorter than 200mm and you may as well be using a pistol.

You need to match the barrel length with an apropriately ported cylinder or else the volume of air in the cylinder will be much greater than the volume of air in the barrel, this will cause accuracy problems
Either way you need to open the gearbox and changing a spring is less of a pain than buying a new barrel/cylinder combo

lol the guy obviously doesnt want to go into his gearbox, or isnt ready to learn yet, so why tell him to go into his gearbox? lol

since its cqb, you could try stretching out the hop up sleeve so you make the seal worse. Your not going to get consistancy, but it could lower your fps...

you could also try leaving your gun stored away with the spring compressed (switch to full auto, fire once and then leave it stored away like that) ... its not great for you gun, but its not the worst thing, and might help break your spring in more. (if it isnt already)

you could buy a TM velocity reducer, its like a flash hider that does exactly what you think it does... Some people frown on them, but I dont have a problem. especially for a measily 20fps...

Seriously, just get 40$ and buy a spring/have it installed by a gundoc.

Way better idea than breaking your gun on purpose.

If you are dead set on just dropping fps with a barrel, something like the madbull crawler barrel will do it, or you could do/make something similar yourself. Do the holes up near the hop up end and it can work. Bleed air off reducing the bb acceleration down the barrel. Use a cheap brass barrel or your original barrel and buy a nicer barrel for outdoor play

Put in a PDI w hold hop up. Decently accurate and causes consistent fps drops. May be better than the other stupid ideas floating around.

Alright, thanks a lot for all the ideas. Im more trying to figure a way to be able to use the gun for both indoor amd outdoor without having to open up the gearbox. Are the inners of the gearbox fragile or have to be accurately placed? Im more than mechanically inclined just have never dealt with anything this small and possibly delicate.

There's nothing particularly delicate, but there's lots of small pieces under spring tension that will absolutely go flying the moment you open it, and make putting it back together a pain.
