Silica BB's

I know silica bb's are not safe for games. But as a plinking round they cannot be beat. I've heard that BBBastard has stopped production of them, is this true?
Is there another decent brand of silica bb's out there? Where can they be found for purchase?

What's the difference, material-wise, between regular BB material and silica? Aren't they both plastic-based? This is one thing that always confused me.

Plastic bb's are made of styrene, silica bb's are made of silicon dioxide

ah. Seems like a rather strange substance to make a BB out of.

If yer gonna be sure your barrel is made of stainless steel cause aluminium or brass your gonna be putting dents in the barrel. They sill even be hard on a stainless barrel and id advise against it.
There is no need to use those or the steel 0.88g bb's ive seen

They sell some aluminum ones at the local princess auto here... haven't had a chance to try them out yet. Not to sure what they could do to the hop up either. Hesitant...

If I can find them, I'll run them through some stock internals I'm going to end up replacing anyway to see how they perform but at that weight I'm going to bet on "poorly."

Based on my experience handling aluminum, I would advise against using aluminum BBs
