Whats your red dot of choice?!

Hey guys,

Have been looking up some red dots and it seems like there are a million choices from clones to airsoft specific and ones designes for .22's etc.

Of all the ones out there I think I have come to like the Tasco Red Dot that is sold at the big box stores and gun stores alike. I believe they sell for $49 these days ($30 inthe US). It works off a single cell button battery.

Anyone else use this? What one do you have/like the best?

When i started I was using a Bushnell from basspro. ($40ish)(seen on the M4 in my sig pic) Ive gone through a few since then and as far as looks vs use I havent found anything better for the price then my clone 552 $50ish. I would rather look through the square of a 55x type RD the the circle of the bushnell or tasco types.

But then again airsoft is all about what feels better to you. My idea of the perfect RD could be way off base in your view.

the tasco red dot is great for the price, it is able to handle a 5.56/.223 calibre rifle, and maybe a shotgun depending on what load is in it
nc stars from marstars, well one vendor that supplies all kind and located in canada that i could find without including edmonton's milarm
or like said, the bushnell, it is all depends on the preference you have and the prices, these described are for newbie real steel shooters that wants a red dot but do not have the luxury to pay or something one wants to replace easily
weight is also should be in mind, what is the point of carrying a heavy red dot if your load out is based on speed and low profile, so a doctor red dot sight or the same style but you will need to rise up to your eye sight height
so is there a budget to be known? if so, if you like the aimpoint but cannot afford it, you should consider a vortex strikefire, price for it is under 200 dollars
Vortex Strikefire: "$135 Aimpoint?" by Nutnfancy - YouTube
however if you do get a good red dot, get a killflash

They have amazing reviews online. ANd are apparently one of the best sights for the money.

Its $289 USD and made for real assault rifles. It had better be good or I would ask for a refund. Is this sight really necessary for airsoft?! You must have pretty deep pockets.

That Tasco red dot sight is actually great. It's one of the only sights I've found I might actually have a chance of keeping on the rifle all day. Most of my sights I take off after a short time, due to iron sights kicking so much ass.

I use the Tasco on my MP9. It's actually really solid. And the lenses can take paintballs and BBs w/o breaking. For the price it's pretty great.

Had a T1 Micro, ditched it for an Elcan DR + Docter Red Dot.

I find the Docters to be faster, and quite comfortable considering where they are mounted on the Elcan.

Price is quite reasonable considering what you get!

I was really quite fond of my T1 though, good little optics.

Aimpoint PRO. It's got all the function (and more... ) as the M2, and can be bought locally for $550 tax in with an ARD.

The mounting solution is also really nice, with an anti locking twist that prevents over tightening the device while providing tonnes of support.

Haha only $550 eh?! I don't think i would ever spend that much on an airsoft optic. Especially when a gun only has a real effective range of 100ft or so. I will stick with my Tasco I can put a grouping together just as well with that!

Optics Planet will not ship to Canada.

Favorite is a EOTech 551.

For EOTechs watch for used ones. You can get them for the price of a good clone and they work as advertised.

$550 may sound like a lot, but it's a reliable optic and all Aimpoint optics are covered with a 10 Year warranty (under personal use, only 2 year under competition use).

That and I can take my optic and put it on my real gun if I were so inclined.

Lastly, it's got the first 4 settings are for use with NVG. Too low to see with the human eye, but just enough to be seen with my NODs and perfect for not giving yourself away against other players with nods.
