That's just the name that Kimber gave to that specific model.
Any 1911 can have a full length guide rod with the proper barrel bushing.

TLE/RL is just a model name used by Kimber, referred to a model with railed 1911 frame. Illusion did a run of those style of frame and slide set for Hi-Capa(not 1911). The TLE/RL II from Kimber did have full length guide rod....

I'll go by what I'd like for appearances sake and say I'd prefer something that looks like yours:

Looks like there's a recoil guide rod and recoil rod bushing?
The benefits are mixed opinion, and affects real steel builds more than airsoft. The general claims are a more stable and smoother slide stroke, as the spring movement is controlled throughout the slide's cycle.

I personally did it in one of my 1911's to bring even more weight to the front end.

Ultimately, the decision to go with a full length guide rod is generally a cosmetic one.

Some people like the look of the rod sticking out. Some don't.

But you're right about that photo... it's a recoil guide rod and a recoil rod bushing.

The brand is ILLusion Kinetics for that particular set. There are cheaper ones out there that look just as good (but without the allen key head on the face of the rod.)

Yes, you'll need a bushing if you're using a full length rod.

"Tactical Law Enforcement / RaiL"

That acronym belongs to Kimber and has nothing to do with guide rod/bushing style. TheNoobLord is confusing you with the subject at hand.

This is what the real Kimber Custom TLE/RL II looks like:

I had a slide produced that was based on Kimber's "Custom TLE/RL II" model that shared the aesthetic design. However, I changed up some of the features to my own taste, and the slide set was available in two flavours:
1) A bull barrel design.
2) A traditional 1911 straight barrel design.

These were built as a drop in kit for the Marui Hi-Capa 5.1, which worked well, because the hop up chamber of the Marui Hi-Capa is better off using a full length guide rod, like the real Kimber TLE/RL II models. The look became more accurate.

The final result is that bushing set plus full length recoil rod you're looking at. Most of it was designed in house and followed NO standards provide by Marui, so most of those parts are proprietary and can not be combined with other brands of 1911 and Hi-Capa parts.

These days, we have more options, and it's easier to replicate this build with more standard parts.

ILLusion, I'm too lazy to look it up - is that spring guide available separately? I did pick up a full length spring guide myself, but that one just looks cooler, lol.

It is available separately. I can't guarantee it will fit with whatever you're putting it in.

I could've sworn I had one left in stock somewhere here, but I can't for the life of me find it right now. I can order more in as required.

Part of the reason why that particular one looks so good, is first, because of the hex hole on the face. The second reason is because it was made flush with the end of the rod bushing. Normally, it is recessed and flush with the muzzle of the slide.

The reason why it should be recessed, is so that the barrel bushing can be rotated out of the way when the rod bushing is depressed. The way it is now, with the end flush with the rod bushing, means that even if you depress the rod bushing, the barrel bushing will still get caught by the extended recoil rod.

You won't be able to disassemble the barrel bushing like real steel. The process starts like a standard Hi-Capa. You have to remember to remove the barrel bushing before you can slide the barrel out. This is after you've removed the recoil rod and recoil spring as well as the rod bushing.

PM me if you want to order the rod.

The hex feature is supposed to be used with a 2 piece guide rod, which is how I did my "ghetto hex" on my by threading the end of a rod and loctite and screw in a socket head cap screw....

Andrew,

The guide rod on that Kimber set was a two piece. Most of the units coming out of the factory were, but I remember yours was a bit unique due to the comepnsator integration. Yours was a one piece?

The Limcat had a 2 piece, though it uses 2 cross drilled holes on the fore-and-aft piece to tighten and loosen(you stick something in the holes and twist. The Hex thing is what I did to mod another guiderod on that 1911.

What I meant to say in the last post is that you are supposed to loosen the 2 piece rod, then use the front bushing tool to rotate the bushing out of the way to field strip the gun. Thats how you get around having the bushing hitting the long guide rod.

BTW, unrelated question, that OD color Hi-Capa frame, its not a IK frame is it? Or is it a painted IK frame?

That makes no sense to me... you're saying you have to completely unscrew the front half of the rod, and then remove it before you use the bushing tool to depress the recoil rod bushing? It seems convoluted... is this a real steel thing? I don't think I've seen recoil rods go flush to the rod bushing before.

It's a Freedom Art frame. I wish they still made them. Maybe they do, but I'm just having a hard time to find it at any of my suppliers.

The MEU has arrived! I'm pretty stoked. The plastic looks and feels like metal, minus the weight. I just wish the orange paint was done better; smudged a bit along one side. ILLusion, as soon as you get the parts in stock, send me a pm!

Interesting grip and hammer. I think it's my first time seeing either.

Tomorrow, I'm going to see if I can get the smallest can of paint thinner I can find so I can get rid of the orange paint. While I'm there, I'll see if I can find orange tape or something similar in case I need to carry the MEU around.

The hammer is relatively common and can found on many of ILLusion's builds. The grip was a custom creation by myself.

I you just get some nail polish remover that has some acetone in it, the orange paint will come right off with very little effort.

I dont have a clue where you are from, but you should not carry an airsoft pistol in public, and the orange tip law is for the US only. In Canada the Police will treat you as if you are caring a real pistol.

Thanks for the nail polisher tip, H1TMAN. I'll try it right now.

About the law part: I'm going to look for orange tape or something similar in case I do need to carry it around. The only place it'll ever not have an orange tip is in my own home. Should be okay.
