Airsoft / Clearsoft - Long Term Reliability Study - Just a Thought
I was discussing this with Bravo One-Six, and he didn't mind me putting a few thoughts down here. And by no means is this thread supposed to turn into another "They're coming for our Guns, The sky is Falling".
Let me start out by saying that the study is actually a great idea. The only issue I have is by the actual Date Obtained part. Although probably 99% of the guns were obtained after '98, stating it in writing might not be the brightest idea considering that Law Enforcement is thought to monitor this site. Remember, anything obtained after '98 would be illegal (unless you were a production company, or had a BFL).
The obvious arguement is "Well, a P90 wasn't even introduced to airsoft until after '98, and therefore if LE wanted to prosecute me, they could". This is true, but you would be a much easier target if you admit it in writing. Possession isn't a crime, acquiring it is, and by filling out the date, you ARE admitting to acquiring it after '98.
I would hate for the Reliability Study to be an Airsoft Registry. There has been enough paranoia regarding Real Steel being taken away for us to worry about that too.
The study would be just as valuable without putting the date down. Enjoy!!!
