silicone hop hubbers will perform better than harder rubbers in the cold. Typically the 50 degree hardness rubbers work very well.
and use LiPo batteries. NiMH batts might drain up to 300% faster in the cold, but LiPo's I've read only increase 5-10% drain.
I've never experienced any noticeable LiPo drain increase in the cold. Don't have to worry about keeping them warm either.

Issues arise with different mechbox greases as well, if they get too thick in the cold they could seriously affect performance.
