Finally Decided
 

After many strenuous hours of searching and reading countless reviews, I have come to the decision, I would like a KSC Glock 19. It seems to me to be a sturdy reliable beginner gun, that is if you maintain it. Although mentioned in many posts and reviews, I am still curious as to whether it is able to handle propane out of the box. Am I looking for trouble further down the road or is it a safe bet? I will most likely be switching to a metal slide and barrel after a couple months. Will I be fine with the stock slide for that time?

I know people who have the G19, and have run nothing but propane, you should be fine. Those glocks are very well built, awesome workhorses. altough i wouldnt recommend a GBB as a beginner gun. It is your money though.

why wouldn't you recommend a GBB for a first gun?

Well, you would have a crappy game. and if you do want to use a gbb as a primary then you need shit loads of mags. if you want to use a gbb for a game then get the 18c since it has auto capibility

A gbb would not have the range needed for an open field game as posted 1000x before. The gbb would only be good for cqb. Or pistol matches which personally I like to us my MP5K for! If you read the faq or do a search all will be revealed in more detail.

I think you'll like the Glock series pistols. i have a KSC G26 with metal slide and i run it with propane all the time with no problems. If you want to use the glock as a primary with buy a few extra mags. Just have to be more picky about your kills. Don't spray and pray.
Soon i'll be playing with my dual Glock19s with Caspian slides and a shotgun as primary.

There's a cost/practicality factor too.

A GBB is cheaper than an AEG, but you'll probably just want to buy an AEG eventually anyways, once you get tired of being outgunned by guys with rifles (I'm not saying that you're a bad player or that you will do poorly, but you will be at a disadvantage for range, ROF, and mag capacity). Once you have an AEG, chances are you won't use your Glock very often anyways.

should you choose to go out to a game with just the glock than it can be managed. a giant milsim event might be a little more difficult if you dont know how to move. on a smaller scale you can play with the big boys if you move well. i've done it. takes a bit of patience but it's incredibly fun. the entertainment value is priceless!

and as long as you're not putting thousands and thousands of rounds through it before you go to metal than you should be ok on propane till you get your metal stuffs.

Duckman made another point as well plastic and propane don't mix well plastic slides break quick.....and @ that it's your money if you want to waste it send it to me, but if you want to enjoy bb warfare then heed the advice given. Take it or leave it

I live in Fort St John, British Columbia, and i have no idea where any games would be held. Grande Prairie in Alberta has a store which i go to for my paintball needs, they also carry a large selection of airsoft guns. I talked to the owner and he said there were actually quite a few people from where I live that play in GP. Would any of you know any fields closer to me?

Don't let anyone tell you that you won't be good with a GBB primary. You just don't play spray'n'pray like most AEG/hicap airsofters. (most unrealistic way to play by the way) You'll be fine if you a fit and can run more and make more educated shots. It feels cooler too. May I suggest a KJW glock. They don't make the 19 but the 23 is just about the same but is full metal out of the box.

Id look at the KWA glock 19, comes with a metal slide and full trades. Almost the same as the KSC. (can run propane) Ive owned both KWA and KSC 19's, and there both really nice pistols. Glocck 23F's on the other hand cannot handle GREEN GAS or PROPANE, there is a flaw in the grip where is cracks. For playing with others (indoor) a pistol is great and works. but its not the ideal, when someone is dumping 300 rnds at you.
